What grades does the school include, and how many students are enrolled?
Academies @ GBDS is a Nursery 2 through Eighth grade school. We currently have 120 students enrolled.
 
Where do your graduates attend High School?
Many of our graduates attend Jewish High Schools, such as Frisch, TABC, Leffell, and Golda Och Academy. Some of our graduates attend Montclair Kimberly Academy, specialized public High Schools, such as Bergen Academies in Hackensack and Teterboro, and other elite public High School programs.
 
Where do your graduates attend universities and colleges?
We are very proud of our graduates. They have been accepted and attended top-ranking universities and colleges. Where are you located?
We are located in Northern Bergen County NJ. Our school is conveniently located at 45 Spruce Street, Oakland, NJ. Our school borders the towns of Wayne, Mahwah, Franklin Lakes, and Wyckoff.  We are easily accessible from Morris and Passaic Counties of NJ and Rockland County, NY.   
 
Are you accredited?
Yes. We are accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. 
 
Who started the school, and when?
Rabbi David Panitz of Temple Emanuel of North Jersey in Paterson, Rabbi Jeffrey Siegelman, of Shomrei Torah in Wayne, and Dr. Bruce Leibowitz, a parent, recognized the need for a Conservative Jewish Day School in our community. The school opened in 1985 with a kindergarten and first grade class totaling 17 students, at Congregation Beth Shalom in Pompton Lakes. How large are your classes? How many teachers work with each?
Our classes range in size to an average of 8 to 18 students.
In Nursery 2-pre-K, we have two teachers in each class. In Kindergarten, there are a lead teachers and an assistant teacher for both General Studies and Judaic Studies. In 1-4 grades, each class is taught by a lead General Studies and Judaic Studies teachers. Our Middle School (5-8th grades) is fully departmentalized in the areas of Humanities, Math, Sciences, Hebrew Language, Rabbinics and Jewish History. Specialists work with our students in art, music, physical education, maker space, and library.

Do you have any after-school or extracurricular programs?
Yes. There are a variety of after-school and extracurricular programs for all ages and grade levels.
 
What is the community like at Academies @ GBDS? 
Our school is known as a small school with a big heart. The moment one walks in through our doors, one immediately feels the inviting and warm atmosphere.  
Our community is diverse and includes families from various levels of observance, towns in Bergen, Passaic, and Morris Counties of NJ, as well as Rockland County in NY, different countries, racial backgrounds, family structures, and income levels. What are the tuition & fees at Academies @ GBDS?
The tuition starts at $13,000 for the year. Please schedule a tour to discuss tuition specifics. Financial aid is available based on a thorough financial evaluation. Once your application is submitted, our Business Manager will reach out to you with step by step instructions on applying for financial aid. Please be aware that Financial Aid is available on the first come - first serve basis. Please provide all required paperwork in a timely fashion not delay your application and decision from the Financial Aid Committee.
 
Are lunches included in the cost of the tuition?
Lunches are NOT included in the tuition cost. Parents have an option to either pre-order lunch OR send in Kosher Dairy lunch from home.
