The George and Arline Haar Middle School of Academies @ GBDS works hard to develop students into independent learners who think critically and into young adults ready to take on the rigor and responsibility of high school and beyond. With the advent of the Middle School years comes a unique developmental stage for children who demonstrate both a broad range of behaviors and levels of maturity. Administrators, teachers along with our school counselor come together as a team to guide our students through this period of enormous growth. We take much pride in graduating highly capable students who are responsible, knowledgeable, adaptable, confident, purposeful, and above all successful and happy.
We embrace, preserve and work to develop this precious time of childhood by providing an environment where it’s safe to be a child by instilling confidence and offering opportunities to learn and grow from one's mistakes. Within our dynamic educational experience we are able to get to know our students, and their families well enabling us to create a culture of inquiry and of learning. We immerse our students in the study of Jewish texts and Modern Hebrew language and thereby imbue them with a love and pride of Jewish tradition and Israel. We set our students on a trajectory for further exploring their Jewish identity.
Our middle school offers three opportunities within our Academy’s structure - STEM, Visual and Performing Arts, and Leadership.
