Hi, Rabbi Traiger asked me to set up a schedule of breakfast sponsorship for our middle schoolers to help celebrate Rosh Chodesh in the upcoming school year.

For those whose children are new to our Middle School, at GBDS we have a special breakfast, along with appropriate additions to the Tefila service, to mark that day when Rosh Hodesh falls out on a school day. This enables us to strengthen school spirit and highlight and connect students to the Jewish calendar.

As we have done in past years, we would like to open the Rosh Hodesh breakfasts up for sponsorship. One family can do so, or two or three families can sponsor together. Last year we had two families share each month's sponsorship, which includes purchasing the items and setting them up the morning of the breakfast in one of the classrooms. While families are free to make the breakfast as elaborate as they wish, many of the students have already had breakfast and the kids have said that a simple breakfast of bagels, butter/cream cheese, milk/juice, and cookies or donut holes is perfect. Fruit such as grapes is another option. Again, your call as to what you'd like to serve - the kids will be very appreciative!  For more information on which bagel bakeries are acceptable regarding kashruth and the appropriate hechsher for other items, CLICK HERE.

To give an idea, for two families who share, budget about $25 per family (eg. $50 per breakfast). It's not mandatory to sponsor a breakfast, but it is greatly appreciated. There are 20 students and 10-12 teachers; leftovers are provided to the teachers in their lunch room.
